"Nice place to stay" Breakfast buffet - great. The rooms are really clean and tidy too. Its pretty far away from Patong and a bit more quiet and family friendly but its a really nice place to stay if you prefer to be away from all the craziness. Hire scooters from across the road for 200 baht a day and go where ever you want anyway. The beaches here were amazing.. better than any others i saw in Thailand...Nov 19, 2009
"Serene was great" Serene Resort was awesome, we loved the people, great relaxing atmosphere, yummy breakfasts.
I would recomend to anyone to add the breakfast to their room rate you cant go wrong - fresh made omelttes yum!
The pool area is nice and relaxing, I found the area really nice out of the way of the main area of Kata but only 2 minutes walk to restuarants, beach etc. The only downside is the distance from Patong - recomend a scooter we had so much fun driving it around the island and you can get from Serene to anywhere! We found the resort to be quiet at nightime and very spacious. The rooms exceeded my expectation, great value for money. Would definetly stay here again...Sep 6, 2009
"Serene really is Serene" I stayed with my wife this summer and had an extremely pleasant time. The price was very good so we ended up staying 9 nights. The food is much better then advertised (read my review on Serene Resort's homepage). The cleaning staff were amazingly good at what they do, and the management Jimmy Kunton made our experience that much more enjoyable.I highly recommend this place for families and couples. We will seriously consider staying there again in the future...Aug 6, 2009
“Lovelye Hotel and Excellent Value for Money" I booked this at the very last minute (3 days before travelling) as I could not decide where to stay in the Kata/Karon area. The price was such a bargain £20 per night for the room that I could not let it pass. This hotel is an a great location and 5-10 minuetes walk to the beach (depending on which route you take), the only negative being that it is on a main road and there is no pavement, so you have to watch out when leaving the hotel as cars and motorbikes sometimes whizz by.Plenty of shops and restaurants nearby and walking distance to Karon (approx 20 mins)Rooms are very large with spacious balcony, bathroom could do with freshening up/maintenance i.e paintwork and shower kept changing temparature if you used full pressure. I was going to change room but I would have had to wait 24 hours so decided to live with it.Room cleaning could take a while but was thorough. Somedays I left the room say at 10am to go to the beach and would come back at 3.30pm and it still had not been cleaned even though I left the sign on the door saying the room could be cleaned.Breakfast was very nice as mentioned by previous guests with plenty of choice, although no pancakes or French toast which I love!Although there is lots of choice of hotels in the area, I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again....Jul 28, 2009
“Luxurious hotel with great services near beach" We loved this hotel, don't know where to start, everything was perfect. Room was really nice and clean with european style bathroom (big plus in Thailand) with balcony overlooking swimming pool and TV with English speaking channels. Lovely swimming pool was unfortunately closed later in the evening. Breakfast which was included in the price (we paid 1900THB/night) was awesome, buffet style with huge selection of food). Staff was very nice and helpful and there were all the services available as in the luxurious hotel. Kata beach, restaurants and shops are few minutes walk from the resort:-) I would recommend this hotel to everyone except people with disabilities or older people cause there was no elevator (as far as I know). Kata beach is pretty far from the airport, it takes about 40minutes, but it's worth beautiful crystal clear waters of Kata beach:-).....Feb 8, 2009
"excellent value for money" We have recently returned from 13 nights staying at the Serene Resort with two daughters age 15 and 10. We cannot fault this resort. It was value for money with comfortable clean rooms, delicious breakfast and friendly staff. When we arrived the staff never gave us the requested inter leading family rooms but two separate rooms. This error was rectified in the following morning and we were given huge inter leading rooms over looking the pool with the most comfortable large beds we have ever slept on. Although other travellers have complained about the amount of stairs, we had no problem with this as there was an elevator and besides we enjoyed the exercise after eating far too much great Thai food. The pool area was great with lots of comfortable loungers and friendly bar staff serving yummy cocktails.
We never ate any dinners at the resort as we discovered Kata Mamas Seafood restaurant on the south side of the beach. What a find, plastic chairs, sandy floors, no frills, million dollar view overlooking the beach, dynamic layback staff serving the most delicious Thai food and BEST BANANA FRITTERS at such unbelievable reasonable prices. (About $4 NZ for a meat dish). We ate there almost every night and the only time we ate at an upmarket restaurant in town resulted in us feeling ill.
The hotel is conveniently situated with easy walking distance to the beach, town and all the restaurants. The Mali spa located in the hotel is excellent with very reasonable prices. We did most of our shopping in Phuket town (30 Baht by bus) at the night market. It was a fantastic experience with heaps of bargains...Jul 13, 2009
"Amazing People" Having read previous reviews I was expecting something 'tired' and in need of updating...in part this was true, however, what I did find was the people going out of their way to make both Christmas and New Year a time to remember. They worked incrediby hard to get the place ready and despite rather a boring breakfast every morning...the food for Christmas and New Year was lovely. The whole thing could have been seen as tacky but knowing how hard everyone worked and how excited everyone was you couldn't fail to be amazed...and enjoy yourself.
If I needed a value for money place to stay in Phuket...I would certainly come back here. The beach was by far the best we found and a good mix of restaurants and bars.
We had a great time...Jan 8, 2009
